OGLESBY ~ Christine “Christy” Kay Cook, 64, of Oglesby, IL passed away at 3:25 a.m., Saturday, February 16, 2019 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL.
Christy was born November 10, 1954 in Aurora, IL to Ronald and LaVergne (Bozik) Cook. She was employed at the University of Arizona, Tucson, and later at Waste Management in Geneva, IL then Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory in Batavia, IL.
She was an avid reader with a great love of mystery and horror. She was an advocate and supporter of The Gentle Barn, a sanctuary for severely abused animals. She had a huge heart and was endlessly loving and generous to all the animals that entered her life. Christy was much loved and will be greatly missed by her whole family.
She is survived by her mother LaVergne Cook of Peru, IL and her daughter Sabrina Ory of Ottawa, IL, as well as her nieces Jessie Moug of Colorado Springs, CO and Emma Moug of Aurora, IL. Christy is preceded in death by her sister Julie Ann (Cook) Moug on May 4, 2018, and her father Ronald Cook.
