Cleo J. Steiner, 77, of Peoria passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at his residence.
He was born May 3, 1941 in Peoria son of Cleo M. and Dorothy L. Lohmar Steiner. He married Carol M. Dougherty on August 12, 1967 at St. Marks Catholic Church in Peoria.
Surviving are his wife, one son Andrew (Gina) Steiner of Peoria and one daughter Kelly Livingston (Donnie Metternich) of East Peoria; 6 grandchildren Brooke (Zack) Gloeckler, Austin Steiner, Khloe Livingston, Jake, Ava and Zoi Metternich. Also surviving are two great grandchildren, Adalyn and Callie along with one brother Gary (Mary) Steiner and one sister Yvonne Knorr both of Peoria. His parents, two sisters Mary Ann Knisley and Shirley Simmons preceded him in death.
Cleo was an honorably discharged U.S. Army Veteran. He worked for 42 years as a sheet metal worker with Sheet Metal Workers Union Local #1 in Morton. He was a former member of the American Legion Post 979 in Bartonville AMVETS Post #64 and Elks Club #20 both in Peoria. Cleo always enjoyed his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, but a favorite past time was his cabin he purchased and renovated at Happy Hollow Lake in Williamsfield where his family and friends enjoyed many gatherings. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal baseball and a Chicago Bears fan.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of life for Cleo will be held at a later date.
