Harold Allen

Harold Allen, 79, of Peoria passed away at 7:08am on Thursday April 5, 2012 at his residence. Just 2 years and 3 months earlier on December 25, 2009 his wife of 53 years Jewell joined him in eternal rest on December 25, 2009 in Phoenix, AZ at the age of 77.

Harold was born on January 5, 1933 in Peoria, IL the son of Otis and Katherine Brown Allen. Harold was an honorably discharged US Army Korean Conflic Veteran. He was employed at Caterpillar Tractor Co. for 24 years before retiring in 1993, and was earlier employed at Hiram Walker for 11 years.

Jewell was born on July 14, 1932 in Bunker Hill, IL the daughter of Walter and Kathleen Buhs Calhoun. Jewell worked at OSF St. Francis Hospital working in nursing services, retiring in 1993.

They married on June 1, 1956 in Peoria and to that union was born one daughter Vickie Downard wife of Randy. Also surviving are three granddaughters and three great grandchildren. Two brothers preceded him in death.

Cremation rites have been accorded for both Harold and Jewell with a private graveside service to be held at Swan Lake Memory Gardens.
