Lillian Ehrentreu Obituary

Lillian Ehrentreu, 84, of Peoria passed away on Friday, October 5, 2018 at Aperion Care Peoria Heights.

She was born on January 11, 1934 in Kaposvar, Hungary. She was adopted by Maria and Redli Ferenc and lived in Budapest, Hungary.

She married Otto Ehrentreu on December 23, 1954 in Budapest and immigrated to the United States in 1957, during the Hungarian Revolution. She and her family relocated to Chicago, Illinois and lived there until June 1965 when the family moved to Peoria.

In 1969 she went to work at Bishop’s Buffet as a cook and eventually became the Food Manager until they closed.  She then went to work at the Riverview Retirement Home in East Peoria, working as a cook until she retired in 2012.

Otto left the family in 1969 and she had three children; Geza (Joann) Ehrentreu of Rockford, Tamara (Tom) Waldon of Peoria Heights, and Gerald Ehrentreu who passed away in 1981. She has 2 granddaughters, Reka Ehrentreu of Rockford and Krystal Daraban of LaSalle and 2 great grandsons; Jake and Joey Daraban of LaSalle.

She was an incredible woman, who overcame great odds to support her family in trying times. She cherished her family and friends and she had a great love for life, as she always saw the positive, even when there wasn’t much of it to go around. Her hope was that all who knew her, would remember her in that way.
