Patricia Werking

Patricia A. Werking, 65, of Peoria was born on September 6, 1953 in Peoria, IL the daughter of Robert and Shirley (Scott) Cooley. She passed away at 11:17AM, September 20, 2018 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL after a long battle with cancer and Parkinson’s disease.

During this 15 year battle she exuded nothing but God’s love and joy to everyone she came in contact with. Her example of strength through adversity was a testimony to her tremendous faith. She was a very dedicated and caring single mother which she made her top priority. We rejoice that she is now with her Lord and Savior. 

Surviving are two daughters Jenna Werking of Peoria, IL and Meagan (Mark) Darnall of Chico, CA.  Also surviving is one brother Robert (Patti) Cooley Jr. of San Diego, CA. Her parents and her step mother Arlene Cooley preceded her in death.

She attended Illinois Central College in East Peoria, IL and later Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA. Patricia then worked for her father’s chiropractic office in Peoria.  After her marriage to Mark Werking on June 26, 1976, they started their own chiropractic office together and partnered with Benningfield Chiropractic office in Peoria. Patricia later worked as an account manager at Peoria Christian School, last working in 2004.  

She was a longtime member of Grace Presbyterian Church since 1981 where she volunteered with the 2 year old Sunday School Classes and VBS and was also involved in many Bible study and small groups. Patricia’s ministry included handing out tracts and sending Daily Bread Devotionals and was also involved with “Friends Visiting” and “Pioneer Girls”. She volunteered with the Southside Mission and helped with their annual delivering of Thanksgiving meals. Faith, prayer, encouragement, discipling/mentoring, and evangelism were her God-given spiritual gifts she was blessed with. 

Cremation rites have been accorded. A visitation will be held at 10:00 AM prior to a Memorial Service at  11:00 AM on Thursday, October 4th 2018 at Grace Presbyterian Church, 8607 IL Route 91, in Peoria. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Grace Presbyterian Church or Peoria Christian School 3506 N California Ave, Peoria, IL 61603.
