Robert V. Modro

Robert V. Modro, 86, of Lacon, IL passed away at 2:00AM, Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born October 14, 1931 in Streator, IL son of Bernard and Margaret Lutz Modro.  He married Joyce Baum on November 27, 1958 in Lacon.

Surviving are his wife and their children Robin Modro of Lacon, Mark Modro of Oswego, IL and Beth (Jeff) Jason of Lacon.  Also surviving are two granddaughters Vanessa (Tim) Flaherty, Devon (Eric) Atkins, three great grandchildren Annabelle, Finleigh and Elijah.  His parents and two sisters preceded him in death.

He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict from 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1954. Bob worked at Caterpillar Tractor Co. retiring in 1992. He was a member of American Legion Post #593 and the 15 Club both in Lacon.He was a long time avid bowler and a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan.  

Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Sunday, October 14th from 1:00PM until 3:00PM 2018 at Zoomiez on the Water, 110 4th St, in Lacon.  In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be given to Lacon-Sparland Emergency 52 Ambulance Service or OSF Hospice Service.  To share a memory of Bob, visit www.peoriafuneral.com.
