Richard Arthur Kangas, unexpectedly, went home on 3/15/23.

Dick was born July 11, 1946. He was preceded in death by his father, Eino, his mother, Angeletta, and his sister, Shirley . Surviving are his sister, Sharon Hilst, and many nephews and nieces.

Dick was of the Catholic faith. He served in the United States Army. He was a member of the Elks club and Shriners. He worked as a Gear Tech for Caterpillar and happily retired in 2015. Dick never met a stranger and loved nature. To know him was to love him. He enjoyed meeting for breakfast to catch up with old friends, collecting coins, and cooking his famous ribs.

A Celebration of life will be held on Sunday, April 30, 2023 from 1 to 4p.m. at Hilltop, 115 South Western Avenue in West Peoria. Cremation rights have been accorded. Burial will be private for family and close friends.
