Aaron "Duck" Shelton

Aaron "Duck" Shelton, 71, of Peoria, IL passed away at 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at OSF Richard Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL. He was born August 9, 1946, to the late Willie Bee "Joe" and Mae Lue (Keys) Shelton.

Aaron is survived by his significant other and soul mate, Karen Fulster; four children, Aaron Deandre Shelton, Charles Shelton, Shatone Shelton, and Jeannine Shelton all out of state; their mother Teri Hayes who is Aaron's ex-wife, lifelong friend and mother of their children. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Marko Shelton, Gabriel Shelton, Don Shelton, Triston Shelton, Whitney Shelton, Shatyra Shelton, and Orlandra Mathews; and a host of great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Hattie (David) Mitchell and Iretha Mitchell and a brother, Charles (Lois) Shelton.

After meeting Karen, his family grew even more. This large family includes daughters, Lisa Bongiorno of Peoria, IL, Michelle (Eric) Friedrich of California, Dr. Nicole (Gabriel) Sucre of California, and Denise Armstrong of Colorado, five siblings and many others who welcomed him later in his life who will mourn his passing.

Duck was a member of the Universalist Unitarian Church of Peoria, a friend of Bill's, and participated in the River Front's 'Get Active' program. He retired from Peoria Civic Center where he worked in maintenance.

Aaron was a good, honest, and loving man, who will be mourned by his family and all who knew him. Aaron's last wish was for his family to know he loved them and he knew his love was returned. He was grateful to all his family and friends for the care, support, acceptance, and love that he received and tried to show back. Cremation rites have been accorded and a Memorial Service & Celebration of life, will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 9, 2017, at the Universalist Unitarian Church of Peoria, on West Richwoods in Peoria.
