Barbara E. Reising

Barbara E. Reising, 81, of Hanna City, formerly of Metamora passed away at 2:04am Friday, May 20, 2016 at Heartland Health Care Center in Canton after a two month battle with glioblastoma. She was born on April 19, 1935 in Canton the daughter of Arthur and Marie Shumaker. She married Carl J. Reising on August 7, 1954 in Peoria. He passed away on July 27, 1991. Also preceding her in death was one sister and one brother. Surviving are six children Stephen of Cebu Philippines, Gene of Portland, OR, Suzanne (Russell) McKinnie-Reising of Bolingbrook, IL Sharon Brown of Hanna City, IL Bryan (Linda) of New Ulm, MN and Douglas (Elizabeth) of Lebanon, IL. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren along with two sisters June Walljasper and Emmy Poe both of Canton along with a host of nieces and nephews. Barbara worked for Frate Service of East Peoria for 28 years. She was a member of the Transportation Club of Peoria where she volunteered many hours and was known for the many cookies she baked for the guys. The family would like to thank Heartland of Canton, Unity Point Hospice as well as the many friends who sent prayers and cards. Cremation rites have been accorded with a private burial at a later date. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday May 28, 2016 from 1pm until 3:30pm at the Hanna City Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials may be given to the Hanna City Presbyterian Church, the Catholic Diocese of Peoria or Unity Point Health Hospice.
