Betty R. Malone

Elizabeth "Betty" Malone, 87, formerly of Toulon and a resident of Bel-Wood Nursing Home passed away peacefully at 12:01am on Saturday Dec 1, 2012. She was born in Wyoming, IL the daughter of Terrance and Rose Carroll Smith. She married Melvin Malone on November 15, 1950 in Peoria. He passed away on March 11, 2012. She was also preceded in death by one granddaughter Erin Malone four brothers Raymond, Robert, Vincent, and Eugene as well as two sisters Mary Vester, and Dorothy Griffin. Surviving are one son Terry (Sandy) Malone of Peoria, one granddaughter, Bridgette Malone in Wenona, IL; two step grand children and four step great grandchildren, as well as one sister Shirley Rogers of New Cambria, MO. She formerly worked at Westclox in Peru, IL, Tanners Orchard, Princeville Canning Company, US Postal office in Toulon. After leaving the Postal service, she owned and operated a Kennel service in Toulon for several years. An avid guitar and banjo player Betty played in many area parades winning several awards. Cremation rites have been accorded with a graveside service 11am on Friday Dec. 7th at the Toulon Cemetery with Fr. Vienvan Do officiating.
