Carl E. Thannert, 91, of Lewistown, IL, passed away at 12:06 AM on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at Snyder Village Health Center in Metamora, IL. He was born on April 7, 1932, in Peoria, IL, to Percival E. Thannert and Yetta D. Zeh Thannert. He married Miriam F. Matthews Zipper in Creve Couer, IL, on May 21, 1981.

Surviving Carl are two children from a previous marriage to Barbara A. Tribe Fisher Thannert Ziegler: one son, Paul E (Joy) Thannert, from North Pekin, IL, and one daughter, Kathy A. (Dennis) Curley, from Lowpoint, IL. Also surviving are three grandchildren: four step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and five step-great-grandchildren. Further surviving is one sister, Polly Sowers, of Mount Pleasant, SC.

A U.S. Army Veteran serving in the U.S. Army from 1952, until his honorable discharge in 1954. He worked for Caterpillar Tractor Company for many years before his retirement in 1982. Carl was a lifetime member of the NRA and VFW Post 4835 in Creve Coeur.
