Caroline A. Nelson

Caroline A. Nelson, 64, of Abingdon, passed away on November 4, 2014 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was born on September 15, 1950 in Galesburg, the daughter of Robert and Opal Thrasher Williams. She married Dennis Johnson and later Lyle Nelson. Surviving are her children Joetta (Tony) Johnson of Abingdon, Darla Rogers of Galesburg, Colette (Loren) West of Abingdon Craig Nelson of Rochester Hills, MI, Dace (Bobbie) Nelson of Abingdon and Brett (Kyla Goff) of rural Gilson. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren Amber Johnson, Kale (Lindsay) Johnson, Jade (John) Larkin, Kendall Johnson, Dustin Timmons, Tyson (Lindsay) Rogers, Brooke Smith, Hannah Nelson, Brittany (Tim) Mason, Tyson Dejaynes, Taylor Nelson, Gavin Nelson, Cailyn Nelson, Thomas Border, Brandon (Megan) Anderson and Taylor Anderson. Further surviving are 11 great grandchildren, her siblings Bobby (Cindy) Williams, Donnie (Leslie) Williams and Donna Williams; one niece Courtney Williams, four nephews Bryan Williams, Spencer Williams, Tyler Williams, Brandon Cox and her two loving dogs Sissy and Ricky. Caroline worked for many years for the Abingdon School District and later as a unit secretary at Cottage Hospital in Galesburg. Honoring her wishes cremation rites were accorded. A time to celebrate her life will be Saturday, November 29th at the American Legion Post in Abingdon beginning at 6pm.
