Catherine E. Diebel

Catherine E. Diebel, 97, of Washburn passed away early Friday morning September 7th at her home. She was born on May 26, 1915 in Louisville, KY the daughter of Louis J. and Leona H. Busch Wenz. They later moved to Lacon where Catherine was raised. She married Weldon M. Diebel of Washburn on May 10, 1968 in Watseka, IL. He passed away on October 22, 2000. She was also preceded in death by one sister Mildred Wilson and one brother Lawrence "Bud" Wenz both of Lacon. Surviving is one daughter Kathy Skelton Manuel of Washburn. She is also survived by three grandchildren Shandel (Marc) Hinkle and Jeffrey Scott (Staci) Skelton all of Washburn and Etsel (Mimosa) Skelton of Los Angeles, CA. 10 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren as well as her loving caregiver Vickey Porter of Washburn further survive her. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Washburn. Catherine was a loving and caring mother and grandmother and will be missed by everyone. Cremation rites have been accorded with a memorial service scheduled for 1pm Friday Sept 14th at her church with Fr. Don Roszkowski officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials are encouraged, and given to the American Cancer Society.
