Charles D. Shanks

Charles D. Shanks, 76, of Peoria passed away at 3:00pm, Sunday, August 16, 2015 at his home with his daughter by his side. Charles was born on July 24, 1939 in Centralia, IL son of the late Lawrence and Mary Elifrietz Shanks. Surviving are five children Janis Nicol of Creve Coeur, Donald Block of East Peoria, IL; Monica Shanks of Bloomington, IL; Deanna Shanks, Adam Shanks both of Pekin, IL. Further surviving are three grandchildren, Vince Fraboni, Martina Fraboni, and Seth Stone; one brother James (Maudie) Shanks and one sister Belva Kelley. He was an honorably discharged U.S. Army Veteran being stationed in Germany during peacetime. Charles was the owner operator of the Copper Kettle in Peoria Heights for 26 years, and was a member of Richwood's Christian Church in Peoria. Cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 2pm, Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at Richwood's Christian Church, 8115 N. Knoxville Ave. in Peoria. The Rev. Chris Workman will officiate. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to his service. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorials be given to his church or to Whitney's Walk for Life.
