Cherie Naleta Calhoon, 72, of Morton, passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2012, at Methodist Hospital in Peoria. Born in Peoria on March 31, 1939, to Herman and Wanita Duits, she married Robert Calhoon on October 18, 1974. She is survived by her husband, Robert, and six daughters; Melanie (Bill) Nolan of Bartonville, IL; Cynthia (Jorge) Jimenez of Las Vegas, NV; Paula (Tom) Russell of Las Vegas, NV; Naleta (Rob) Wehrley of Gardner, IL; Samantha (Doug) Juday of Centralia, IL and Sabrina Harper of East Peoria; sisters Temple Chamblee of Tucson, AZ; Vickie Harris of East Peoria, and Tawny (Ron) Schmidt of East Peoria. Cherie had ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was a dedicated wife and mother who loved spending time with her family. She attended First Assembly of God in Peoria where she and her husband were involved in the food pantry program. Cremation has been accorded, and a visitation will be held on Friday, Feb. 24, at the First Assembly of God in Peoria from 10-11am, with a memorial service at 11am with Pastor Dean Grabill officiating.
