Cheryl Scherer

Cheryl S. Scherer, 74, of Peoria, IL passed away at 6:10 AM on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.

She was born on February 18, 1948, in Mattoon, IL the daughter of the late Dean and Nell Stegall Kugler. She married Gaylord Scherer on June 24, 1969, in Olney, IL and he passed away on January 5, 2021.

Cheryl spent many years working in the daycare at the church she attended for nearly thirty years. She enjoyed her work at the church as well as her time with the Norwood School District as a classroom aid. She loved her family and friends dearly. Her laugh and zest for life will be sorely missed by all.

Surviving are one son Ryan Scherer of Nashville, TN and one brother Greg (Cindy) Kugler of Murfreesboro, TN.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 AM Saturday, September 17, 2022, at Bethany Baptist Church in rural Edwards, IL. Visitation will be one-hour before her service also at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be given to Bethany Baptist Church.
