Cora Jean Eastman

GALESBURG... Cora Jean Eastman was born October 12, 1925 in Maquon to Harold and Hannah Morse McVey. She was the loving wife to Bennett C. Eastman, who preceded her in death on April 8, 2008. Jean served Galesburg for many years as a hairdresser and business owner of Lyonel's Beauty Salon in the Bank of Galesburg. Hairstyling was her passion. Family was her love. Jean passed away peacefully in her sleep at her daughter Gigi's home on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 2:45 am surrounded by love. Among those who loved her and are left behind to cherish her memory are two surviving daughters, Paulette Jean Smith (Mike Smith) and Gigi Lynn Eastman. Preceding her in death was her youngest, beloved daughter, Heidi Ann Eastman. Jean was the eldest of six siblings. Her three surviving siblings are Harry McVey, Ted McVey and Elsie Johnson. Her legacy also includes grandchildren, both great and great-great, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Jean's family find comfort in knowing she was called home with her creator. However, she will be deeply missed here on earth and forever loved. In accordance to her wishes, she will be cremated with no formal funeral or visitation services.
