Dale A. Smith

Dale Smith, 88, beloved Father, was called to his eternal resting place on December 15, 2017 at Heartland Healthcare Facility in Peoria.

He entered this world on February 28, 1929 in Peoria, IL, born to Louis and Bertha (Wiltz) Smith. He is survived by his two sons Tyler and Greg, one grandson Ben Lowrey, one great grandson Owen Lowrey, and three stepsons. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years Lillian Smith, his parents and three sisters Gwen, Margaret, and Lois.

Dale was a veteran who served in the Korean War. He was a member of the local Iron Workers Union Local 112 as well as the Illinois Education Association. Dale was involved with slow and fast pitch softball in Peoria for many years and loved to watch and talk softball. He enjoyed writing and was a lifelong Cubs fan. A special thanks to his nephew Gary Bussman who was always there for him. Cremation rights will be accorded. Private services will be held at a later date.
