David Bartley

d. February 24, 2024

John David Bartley, 47, of Chillicothe, IL, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL. He was born on December 1, 1976, in Fontana, CA, the son of John and Kay Vogler Bartley.

His mother, Kay Bartley, and one brother, Jim (the late Jennifer) Bartley, are both surviving of Chillicothe. Also surviving are his special companion and caregiver Kim Schoonover. His father preceded him in death.

At an early age, David endeared himself to just about anyone who met him. He was a beautiful boy with a contagious laugh. David was a special person. Not because he had Cerebral Palsy, not because he was thoughtful, funny, intelligent, outgoing, articulate, considerate, and a super lovely person. What made David special is that despite having the incredible physical burden of his disorder, he never complained or felt sorry for himself. He was always upbeat.

David's passion for gameshows, particularly "The Price is Right" and "Wheel of Fortune," was a testament to his playful spirit and love for a good challenge. John's enthusiasm for these shows was more than a pastime; it was a way of sparking joy and competition in equal measure.

Cremation rites will be accorded. While there will be no public services, David's family will privately celebrate his life. In lieu of any flowers, memorials in David's name may be given to OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home, 8630 IL State Route 91, Peoria, IL 61615.  Affordable Funeral & Cremation Services of Central Illinois, Peoria, is assisting his family with arrangements. His family invites you to visit www.peoriafuneral.com to share a memory or send a condolence.
