Douglas E. Collins

Douglas E. Collins, 58, of Peoria Heights, IL passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 31, 2014 at his residence. He was born on November 29, 1955 in Peoria the son of Gene and Edna King Collins. He married Lori Beall on May 19, 1990 in Peoria. Surviving is his daughter Meghan Collins (Brittany Smith) and one son Alex Collins (Elise Tamplin) and one grandson Alex Collins Jr. all of Peoria. Also surviving is his father, two brothers Gene Collins Jr. and Mark Collins all of Peoria. His mother preceded him in death on May 26, 2012. He was previously employed by the Illinois American Water Company in Peoria last working in 1997. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking and watching television, but especially spending time with his grandson Alex Jr.. Doug was known as "dad" to many of Meghan and Alex's friends and will be missed. At the request of Doug, cremation has been accorded and a memorial service will be held at a date and time to be determined.
