Duane Franklin Wheeler, age 62, of East Peoria, Illinois, sadly and unexpectedly passed away at his home on Sunday, June 28, 2026.

He was born on July 22, 1963, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Duane and Sandy Hogan Wheeler.

He is lovingly remembered by his children: Kasandra (Albert) Crum of Bartonville, Illinois; Nikolas (Kayleigh) Wheeler of Peoria, Illinois; and Jesse (Isabella) Wheeler of Tremont, Illinois. He also leaves behind his cherished lifelong companion, Kandi Curtis; his warm and loving mother, Sandy (Dave) Wilson, of East Peoria, Illinois; and his brothers, Chris Wheeler and Jeremy Wilson. He was proud of his eight wonderful grandchildren—Destini, Dustin, Anastasia, Xander, Sage, Cora, Ryker, and Cayson—and his two precious great-grandchildren, Jordan and Charlotte. His brothers, Chris Wheeler and Jeremy Wilson, and two nephews continue to hold his memory close.

He was preceded in passing by his father and a brother, Jeffrey Wheeler, both of whom he cherished deeply.

He dedicated 25 years of hard work as a sandblaster for SC2 in Peoria.

He loved watching sports and listening to great rock music. He enjoyed relaxing around bonfires, and spending quality time with his family meant a lot to him. His favorite holiday was July 4th.

Cremation rites have been held, and the family will privately celebrate his life. Instead of flowers, you might consider making a memorial donation in his name to the American Cancer Society.
