George Sharp III, 79, of Bartonville, Illinois, died peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Saturday, April 18, 2026.

He was born on April 2, 1947, in Peoria, as the son of the late George and Lillian Buchanan Sharp. On November 20, 1966, he married Clara “Sissy” Dennis in Peoria.

He is survived by his wife, three daughters—Dee Dee (Cecil) Simmons of La Belle, MO; Kelly (Jim) Kauffman of Germantown Hills, Illinois; and Cassie (Ken) Anderson of Bartonville. Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Kaylin (Julius) Grice, Kelsey (Phil) Jordan, Kenzie Simmons, Tyler (Katie) Kauffman, Isaac Simmons, Nick Anderson, and Meghan Anderson, along with four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his brother Randy Sharp of Peoria, Illinois.

He worked for Caterpillar Tractor Company for many years and finished his career as a machinist before retiring. He loved fishing, hunting, and enjoying ice cream, especially chocolate milkshakes. Most of all, he cherished moments with his family.

At the request of George, cremation rites have been accorded. The family will privately celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Jude or Illinois Cancer Care.
