Harold "Herdy" Fox

Harold W. "Herdy" Fox, 75, of Peoria passed away at 10:49am on Friday September 28, 2012 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born on April 6, 1937 in Beardstown, IL the son of Harlan and Vivian Allen Fox. He married Elaine Mayes on December 24, 1966 in Pekin. Surviving is his wife of Peoria, as well as two daughters Rhonda (Kevin Miller) Payne of Rushville, and Kristy "Jose Flores" Fox of Peoria. One son Alan (Alyson) Fox of Bakersfield, CA, one step-son Vernon Sherrill of Peoria. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, two brothers James (Dora) Fox of Beardstown and Larry (Marilyn) Fox of Kerrville, TX, three sisters Kay (Galen) Perry of Pekin, Mary "Fred Mayes" Kessler of Peoria and Sue (Roger) Green of Pekin. His parents and one brother Bobby Fox preceded him in death. He was a US Navy Veteran serving from 1954 until his honorable discharge in 1958. He worked for Laborers Local #165 in Peoria as well as a commercial fisherman last working both jobs until April of 1996. He was an avid cubs fan and was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Lodge #265 in Peoria. He will be greatly missed by all that knew Herdy. Cremation rites have been accorded with a Celebration of Life Service scheduled for 1:00pm on Saturday October 6, 2012 at the Eagles Lodge #265 1704 S. East Lane in Peoria. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given in his name to the American Cancer Society.
