Harry D. Freaner, 84, of Chillicothe passed away peacefully Friday May 25, 2012 at his residence with family by his side. He was born on December 11, 1927 the son of Harry and Maude Freaner. He married Joanne Shiefeling on June 19, 1948. She passed away on December 4, 2011. His parents and one sister Pearl also preceded him in death. Harry is survived by two sons, John of Chillicothe and Jim (Monica) of Peoria. Prior to serving in the US Navy Harry operated a delivery business in Peoria. In 1945, he joined the US Navy serving in the Pacific. Shortly after being discharged and getting married, he joined the US Army where he was stationed in Alaska with his wife. After being discharged from the Army, Harry and Joanne lived in California before returning to Peoria to start a family. Upon returning to the Peoria area, Harry worked as a mechanic at Couch and Heyle in East Peoria. In the mid 1970's, Harry started his own business in Kickapoo, IL "Kickapoo Repair Shop" where he worked with his wife until they retired several years ago. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was a frequent visitor to Jubilee College State Park and Clinton State Recreation Area. Cremation rites have been accorded with private family services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Help Our Park Endeavors (H.O.P.E.).
