James Edward Gibbs

James Edward Gibbs, 62, of Peoria, passed on Saturday evening September 14, 2013 at 7:08 pm surrounded by his family. He was born on September 25, 1950 in Peoria to James A. and Betty Jones Gibbs. He married Linda S. Pauls on August 1, 1970 in Bartonville, IL. Surviving is his wife of 43 years, their two children, James K. Gibbs of East Peoria and Heidi L. Brown of Peoria. He was a proud grandfather of 4 grandchildren, Trever J. Brown 19 of Peoria, Mario S. West Jr., 4 of Peoria and Kaylene M. Gibbs, 18 of Princeton IL and Kyle J. Gibbs, 13 of Schaumburg IL. Further surviving are three sisters Cathy Holcomb of Alabama, Edith McMullan of Edwards IL, and Karen Steenburgen of Peoria IL He was preceded in death by his parents. He was an honorably discharged US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked on his dad's farm, road construction, as well as Teamsters Union. Jim was known by many as "The Lawnmower Man" as he repaired and sold lawnmowers when he retired from Advanced Asphalt Company. Cremation Rites have been accorded and no services are scheduled.
