Jana L. Greuter, 85, of East Peoria, Illinois, passed away at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, Illinois on August 20, 2026.
She was born on September 9, 1940, in Danville, Illinois, the daughter of Rae and Isabelle Deck Baxter. She married Jon Greuter on September 28, 1958, in East Peoria. He preceded her in death on October 15, 2024.
Jana is survived by her children Daniel Greuter, Valarie (Joe) McDuffie, and Eric (Marjorie) Greuter, all of East Peoria. Her legacy also lives on through four grandchildren—Nick (Whitney) Leiby of Bend, Oregon, Shane (Anne) Leiby of Tinley Park, Rachel Leiby of Sun Prairie, WI, and Kylie Greuter of Peoria, IL and 3 great-grandchildren—Wren, Parker, and Nora Leiby. Also surviving is her brother Charles (Chuck) Baxter of Florida. Her husband, parents, and brother Ray (Butch) preceded her in death.
Jana worked in the insurance industry for many years. She was a member of the East Peoria Women’s Club and was a previously certified Master Gardner. She created a beautiful yard with her experience. She was an avid cat lover as evidenced by her exceptional care of Buddy and Samantha in her later years. In honoring Jana's life, memorial contributions can be made to Pets for Seniors in Peoria.
Her family will be privately celebrating her life and they invite you to join them in sharing your favorite stories and memories as a tribute to her memory.
