Jerry A. Showens

Jerry A. Showens, 80, of Bartonville, IL passed away at 11:25 pm, Sunday, July 31, 2022, at the Pekin Villas of Hollybrook Reflections Memory Care Center.

He was born on February 22, 1942, in Canton, IL to Wilbur "Bud" and Ethel "Cecil" Bath Showens. He married Joyce Ann Gregory on August 14, 1959, in Lewistown, IL. Joyce passed away on March 28, 2012. His parents, one sister Twila Quine one brother-in-Law, John Quine, and one sister-in-law Joanne K. Boyce also preceded him in death.

Surviving are two sons Jerry "Butch" (Janice) Showens of Pekin, IL, Jeff Showens of Bartonville, IL; two daughters Julie (Michael) Duncan of Chatham, IL, and June Hanson of Thornton, CO. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, one brother Jack (Sally) Showens of Spring Valley, IL and one sister Wanda Driscoll of Peoria. He is also survived by his faithful companion Faythe, who was always at his side and went everywhere with him.

Jerry worked as an auto mechanic at Brown's Automotive before working for Caterpillar Tractor Co. for 30 years, retiring in March 1992. After retiring, he worked for the Peoria Civic Center as an usher and security guard before working for Uftring Auto Mall as a driver.

Jerry was a lover of the outdoors his whole life. He was an avid deer, duck, squirrel, and rabbit hunter and also enjoyed fishing.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A family graveside service will be held at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria. Pastor Joe Mitchell from Bayview Baptist Church will officiate.
