Joel D. Carter

Joel D. Carter, 55, of Peoria passed away in the emergency room of Unity Point Health Methodist Friday, December 19, 2014.

He was born on August 23, 1959 in Peoria the son of Thomas D. and Patricia L. Deimel Carter. He married Gina Saunders on July 6, 2011 in Peoria.

Surviving is his wife, one son Joshua R. Carter of Peoria. Also surviving is his mother of Peoria, twin brother Jimmy (Connie) Carter of Peoria, and brother Jay (Colleen) Carter of Brookfield, WI. Also surviving are two nieces Paige and Claire Carter, and one nephew Tate Carter as well as his stepdaughter Molly Wallace of Peoria. His father and one infant daughter Jessica preceded him in death.

He was a 1977 graduate of Woodruff High school in Peoria. He worked for the Community Workshop and Training Center in Peoria; he then worked in the garden area at Wal-Mart in East Peoria. Joel gave the gift of life through tissue donation.

Cremation Rites have been accorded. A time to celebrate Joel's life will be 1pm Saturday, January 24, 2015 at the Second Baptist Church, 6417 W. Farmington Rd in Peoria. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
