John Vincent Favorita Jr., 89, of Peoria, IL, died peacefully at Lutheran Hillside Village in Peoria, IL on Wednesday, December 4, 2024.

John was born in Brooklyn, New York, on June 20th 1935 as the only child of John Vincent and Rose Mary Favorita.

In 1959, John received his BS in Industrial Management from University of Kentucky and in 1965, his MBA from the University of Bridgeport. He was active with the US Air Force Reserves from 1959-1964. John traveled the world for his career in international purchasing, working for Ingersoll Rand in The Hague, NL, Joy Manufacturing in Pittsburg, PA, Simplex Management in London, England, and Cooper Industries in Texas to name a few, and made many life-long friendships along the way. In 1985, he settled in Peoria, IL, taking a purchasing job with Komatsu-Dresser, where he worked until his retirement.

John was an avid reader and had a great interest in genealogy. He loved European travel, the University of Kentucky Wildcats, and a good happy-hour gathering. He was an excellent conversationalist and a thoughtful friend who never forgot a special occasion. John loved being a dad and granddad and his children and grandchildren were the light of his life. John will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, JoAnn Favorita. He is survived by three children: Carol Favorita of Mansfield, CN, Claudine Phillips (Paul) of Newnan, GA and David Favorita (Anna) of East Peoria, IL and 11 grandchildren. A special thank you to all who cared for him during his final days, especially Bonnie DePalma.

At John's request, no service will be held. A private celebration of his life will be held for family at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in John's name to Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx, NY or Tazewell Animal Protective Society (TAPS) in Pekin, IL.
