John F. Greiner

John F. Greiner, 65, of East Peoria passed away at 10:59am Sunday, December 29, 2013 at Unity Point Proctor Hospital in Peoria. He was born on December 13, 1948 in Peoria the son of George and Grace Petersen Greiner. Surviving are three sons James C. Greiner of Oregon, Clinton J. Greiner, and John C. Greiner both of Oklahoma. Also surviving are one brother-in-law Galen Williams, niece Deanne (Manuel) Crawford and nephew David Williams all of East Peoria, as well as his cat Juju. His parents, one sister and one infant brother preceded him in death. He was an honorably discharged U.S. Army Veteran serving 18 years and three tours during the Vietnam War. He was a recipient of several medals including the purple heart and Bronze Star. He worked for Federal Warehouse in East Peoria for several years before his retirement. Cremation rites have been accorded with burial of his remains at a later date in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in rural Camp Grove. Memorials in his name may be given to the Center of Youth and Family Solutions in Peoria (Guardian Angel Home).
