Joyce Vanderheiden

Myrtle "Joyce" Vanderheiden, 82, of Peoria passed away Monday, December 7, 2015 at the Grandview Alzheimer's Special Care Center in Peoria. She was born on May 10, 1933 in New Holland, IL the daughter of Ralph and Mildred Worth Pfeifer. She married Dale L. Vanderheiden on February 11, 1951 in Peoria. He passed away on December 25, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, three sisters and one son-in-law Rick Ehle. Surviving are her children Robert "Butch" Vanderheiden of Iowa, Vickie (Daniel) Arnold of Hanna City, IL; Jo (Randy) Jackson of Peoria; Nina Ehle of Chillicothe, IL; Arvin Vanderheiden of Halton City, TX; Lynn (Bob) Antle of Cedar Park, TX and Jeannie (Pat) Owens of Groveland, IL. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren Josh Vanderheiden, Skyler (Melissa) Vanderheiden, Jennifer Brown, Justin (Molly) Jackson, Brian (Laura) Ehle, Andy Ehle, Kari (Rene) Esparza, Robbie Antle, Nik Owens and Kate Owens; 7 great grandchildren Victoria Jackson, Stephanie Jackson, Brittaney Jackson, Priscilla Jackson, Alec Brown and Claire Ehle, Adam Ehle; Further surviving are three brothers Thomas (Marianne) Pfeifer Bartonville, IL; William "Ike" (Sharon) Pfeifer of Peoria and John (Sheila) Pfeifer of Princeville, IL; one sister Sally (Lewis) Vanderheiden and one sister in law Barb Pfeifer of Peoria, IL. For many years, Joyce loved to fish and spend time at the "cabin" on the Illinois River in Browning. She and her late husband hosted many fish fries with friends and family. After Dale's retirement they spent many years in Deland FL. She had many enjoyments including knitting, quilting but especially cherished time with her family. The family offers a sincere thank you to the entire staff of Grandview Alzheimer's Care Center and Harbor Lights Hospice for their kind care and sympathy. At her request, cremation rites have been accorded and no services will be scheduled. Memorials in her name may be given to the Alzheimer's Association of Central Illinois.
