Juanita "Nita" Lavon Peabody, 79, of Washburn, IL, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, in her home surrounded by her family.
Nita was born on October 16, 1944, in Peoria, IL, the daughter of Raymond Banta and Gladys (Glaub) Taylor. She married Richard Dean Peabody in Washburn on March 10, 1963, and they enjoyed over 60 years together.
Nita loved playing cards and games with her family and friends. She also enjoyed being outdoors, planting flowers, watching birds, and camping with her family. She loved watching anything on TV, especially the "The Walking Dead" series. She was a devoted grandmother and enjoyed watching her grandchildren's extracurricular activities as much as possible.
Nita is survived by her children, Scott (Tracy) Peabody, Kyle (Diane) Peabody, and Tricia Linzenmeyer; grandchildren Ryan, Jamie, Hannah, Justin, Cailee, Alexis, and Mason; great-grandchildren Addison, Emmy, Navy, Emery, Aspen, and August; siblings Larry Banta, Mark (Terri) Taylor, and John (Jody) Banta; and many nieces, nephews, and countless friends. Her husband, Dean, parents, and sister, Judy Moore, preceded her death.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Compassus Hospice and Nita's dedicated caregivers over the past 7 months. Their loving care and support were a source of comfort and strength for Nita and her family, and we are deeply appreciative of their efforts.
Cremation Rites have been accorded. A service will be determined at a later date.
