Judona Samuel

Judona Samuel, 58, beloved Mom, was called to her eternal resting place on August 24, 2017. She was born November 2, 1958, in Chicago, IL to Sharon Roach. Her mother Sharon was taken too soon from us. Judona was adopted and raised by Evelyn Roach. She was preceded in death by Mary Evelyn and her cousin Michael Roach. Judona was known as Jude to her family and close friends. She is survived by her daughter Sharli Samuel of Peoria, IL, her brother James Roach of Lake Zurich, IL, her cousin Kathryn Welsh of Peoria, IL and several sisters and brother in laws. She graduated St. Vincent de Paul grade school and Richwoods High School and attended UCLA, where she graduated with honors. Judona completed her Master's degree in Clinical Psychology at Illinois State University. She enjoyed politics, rescuing animals, showing her dogs, horseback riding, traveling, and drawing. Judona remained a lifelong learner throughout her life. Family and friends were Judona's passion and delight. She grew up spending time with her older brother, Carl, and her two cousins, Kathy and Michael, on vacations and weekends. For the last few years, Judona and her daughter showed their dogs around the Midwest and made lifelong friends along the way. She had been a member of the St. Patrick Society and a volunteer for Erin Feis in Peoria. She also recently began volunteering at Lincoln K8 School and had been looking forward to returning this fall. A memorial mass will be held at noon, Saturday, September 9, 2017 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Peoria, IL with Fr. Tom Taylor officiating. There will be no visitation. Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery after the mass. Notes of condolences for the family may be sent using www.peoriafuneral.com.
