Judy Fletcher

Judith Fletcher, 74, passed away at 2:42 p.m., Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria. She grew up in Peoria, IL and graduated from Richwoods High School in 1961. Judy then moved to Chicago, attended Patricia Stevens' Modeling School and pursued a career in modeling throughout her early twenties. She then married, had two daughters Elizabeth Wellenstein of Madison, WI and Sonia Rohde of De Forest, WI. Judy worked as a freelance knitwear designer until 1982 when she married Dale Fletcher and moved to Dunlap, IL. Judy's flair for fashion led to her next career as a buyer for Schradski's Department Store. It was there that she met Marylou Kavaler, a native New Yorker, who together with Judy opened a knit shop, Glorious Knits. After selling the knit shop, she and Dale bought and developed the Chillicothe Marina Condos. Judy became a real estate agent in 2003 and worked for Jim Maloof Realty until retiring in 2012. She enjoyed living on the river, knitting, traveling to warm sunny places, and spending time with her 5 grandchildren in Madison, WI. There will be no formal services or visitation. A gathering of close friends and family will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in Judith's name to the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home, 8630 N. IL Rte 91, Peoria, IL 61615.
