Kathleen "Katie" Bevis

Kathleen "Katie" G. Bevis, 82, of Peoria passed away peacefully at 12:22pm on Sunday, July 20, 2014 at Manor Court of Peoria. She was born on September 18, 1931 in Springfield, MO the daughter of the late James and Grace Gibson Clayton. She married William D. Bevis on January 14, 1978 in Peoria. He passed away on October 8, 2012 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by one brother and one sister in law Donald (Sandra) Clayton, and one nephew Joel Clayton. Surviving are two nephews Russell (Chris) Clayton of Katy, TX and James (Cathy) Clayton of Union, MO. Also surviving are 4 great nieces and nephews and two great-great nieces and nephews. Further surviving are Janis (Stephen) Kidd of East Peoria and Kathy Preckshot of Peoria, her late husband William nieces and caregivers. There are four other surviving nieces and 6 nephews Knezovich and Bevis families. Kathleen was a paralegal for Caterpillar Tractor Co. for many years and retired on Oct 1, 1991. Katie loved her acting at Peoria Players and Caterpillar Productions. She enjoyed reading, traveling, music, her cats, shopping, but especially enjoyed spending time with her high school friends known as the "Golden Girls" and Donna, as well as her family. Cremation rites have been accorded with a memorial service and burial in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL at a later date. Memorials in her name may be given to the TAPS, Hospice Compassus, or Peoria Players. Affordable Funeral & Cremation Services of Central Illinois is assisting the family with arrangements.
