Kathryn R
Tyre
Jul 22, 1939 — Oct 28, 2026
Peoria
Kathryn Rosanne Tyre, 87, of West Peoria, Illinois, passed away peacefully at OSF St. Francis Medical Center at 3:45 p.m. on October 28, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Kathryn was born on July 22, 1939, at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Peoria, Illinois, to George and Mable (Henderson) Driggs.
She married Albert Tyre on June 29, 1963, in Peoria. He preceded her in death, along with her parents and her brother, Donald Driggs. Kathryn is survived by her sister, Marilyn (Jack) South; her four sons, Michael (Christine) Tyre, David (Jill) Tyre, James (Shannon) Tyre, and Daniel (Jennifer) Tyre; her grandchildren, Krista, Luke, Jared (Alicia), Sydney, RJ, Caleb, Holden, Brody, Catalina, and Jack; and her five great-grandchildren, Fletcher, Sawyer, Rowan, Jamison, and Waylon.
After graduating from Metamora Township High School in the Class of 1957, Kathryn began her career at Caterpillar in an administrative role. She later devoted herself to raising her four sons and caring for her family. She rarely missed a school or sporting event and always had a home-cooked meal waiting. Her family was the center of her life, and she was keeper of traditions.
Kathryn loved her family fiercely and was especially proud of her children and grandchildren. Her recipes, the meals she made, and the traditions she created around them will be cherished and passed down for generations. More than anything, she will be remembered for the love and devotion she gave so freely to her family.
A private family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital through its giving page.
