Kenneth "Bryce" Bowen, 78, passed away at Heartland Nursing Home, on Monday, June 3, 2013 at 10:40 pm, surrounded by his loving sisters. He was born on July 23, 1934 to Orville Bryce and Olga Berniece Bowen. He married the love of his life, Mary Elizabeth Lowery on January 1, 1954. She preceded him in death, as did his parents and his younger brother, Larry. He leaves to mourn him six devoted sisters; Judith (Roy) Gargus, Marilyn (Pat) Weitzel, Donna (Tony) Sobczak, Carol (Wayne) Otten, Marsha (David) Tindell, and Randi (Tim) Moody, also many nieces and nephews who remember him fondly. He leaves five children, Roger, Roxy, Vicki, Laurie and Mona, plus several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He started working at a young age as a Journal Star 'paper boy'. Then by age 16 he delivered telegrams for Western Union. Through the years he worked at Bemis Bag, Hart Carter, as a truck driver for the Journal Star, Caterpillar, last working at Neighborhood House of Peoria. He also lived and worked in California for several years, anywhere work was available to provide for his wife and children. His sisters would like to thank the Heartland Nursing Home ARCADIA Staff for their kind, loving and compassionate care of him in his last days. Also Comfort Plus Hospice Care who were so gentle and caring. God bless you all. Cremation has been accorded with private burial of ashes. Memorials in his name may be given to Comfort Plus Hospice Care.
