Ladonne Grens

LaDonne "Donna" Grens, 87, of Pekin passed away at 10:05pm, Sunday, September 7, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on May 6, 1927, in Springfield, IL the daughter of Murl and Elva Williams Dunn. She married Joseph Grens in 1944 and he passed away in 1966. She was also preceded in death by 2 sons Michael Grens and Jack "Butch" Grens, one infant daughter, one great grandson, her parents, one sister one brother and one son-in-law. Surviving are her children Carol Evans of Green Valley, IL, Donnie Grens of Pekin, Sue (Don) Tucker of Mapleton, Barb (Bob) Nelson of East Peoria, Debra Maddan of Peoria and Cindy (Larry) Horton of East Peoria. 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 18 great great grandchildren also survive her. Donna worked for the Illinois Department of Human Services for 35 years retiring in 2002. She was a member of Emmanuel Community Church in Pekin. Donna was a gracious hostess, enjoying frequent visits from her family and friends, and was the rock of our world and will be truly missed. At Donna's request, cremation has been accorded and a time to celebrate her life is scheduled for 11am on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at her church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate or Charge Syndrome Foundation.
