Lenora Shallenberger

Lenora J. Shallenberger "Joy," 83, of East Peoria, passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2020, at Serenity in East Peoria.

She was born on November 19, 1936, in East Peoria, to Leonard and Margret Parnham, and she later married Donald E. Shallenberger on August 19, 1955, in East Peoria.

Joy is survived by sisters Mary Taylor, Marge Cleveland, Ann Jaycox, and Carol Marvin. She also leaves two grandchildren, Emily Shallenberger (daughter in law, Trudy Shallenberger) and Jarid Shallenberger. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Ruth Braugtigan, Phillis Calhoun, Betty Morey, Nancy Bland, and brother, Bud Parnham, her husband, two sons, Brian Shallenberger and Steve Shallenberger, and one grandson, Dylan Shallenberger.

Joy lived in East Peoria her whole life and was a waitress at many businesses throughout the town. She was always known for her "feistiness" and a big heart. She enjoyed garage sales, playing bingo, and tending to her yard.
