Leon "Lee" Tallman

Leon (Lee) Charles Tallman, Jr., 74, of Peoria, Ill., died at 2:56 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center. He was born on Dec. 29, 1938, in Auburn, N.Y., to Leon Charles Sr. and Charlotte Majcher Tallman. He married Johnna G. Pearce. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Joyce Crouch, of LaGrange, Ky. He is survived by his wife; his children, James P. (Jennifer) Tallman, of Washington, Ill., and Amy B. (Christopher) Summers of Peoria; and his grandchildren Jacqueline, Margaret, and James Summers. Lee was a graduate of the University of Louisville, earning Bachelors and Masters degrees in mechanical engineering. He also held a Masters degree from Bradley University. He worked for Caterpillar, Inc., for 40 years both in Peoria and Europe, retiring in 2001. Since retiring, he became a recreational golfer, and was treasurer of Willow Knolls Golf League. He was active in the Peoria Area World Affairs Council, serving as treasurer. He also was a member of Mensa. Cremation will be accorded. Memorial visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon at Mason Funeral Home in Germantown Hills Saturday, Feb. 16. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Bradley University for Scholarships in Memory of Lee Tallman.
