LeRoy P. David, 98, of Peoria, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at his residence.

LeRoy was born on June 1, 1928, in Peoria to Clyde and Elizabeth French David. He married Lois Parrott on October 17, 1953. She passed away on April 12, 2016. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Jacki Wetterauer, one great-grandson, Blake Anthony David and 18 siblings.

Surviving are one daughter, Vickie (Jim) Russell of West Peoria, Illinois, and two sons, Steven (Brenda) David of Trivoli, Illinois, and Robert (Tina) David of Hanna City, Illinois. Further surviving are 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

LeRoy first worked as a barrel maker for Hiram Walker Cooperage, later as a laborer for PIPCO Companies and then retired from Limestone Township working in road maintenance.

He was a member of the Peoria Boat Club. He enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting. And mowing his lawn. He was very excited to celebrate his 98th birthday with family and friends and getting his drivers license renewed.

LeRoy was a Korean War army veteran of 5 years, 33 months of which was spent as a POW. He was also a member of the Bartonville American Legion. LeRoy was awarded The Bronze Star Medal for heroism in ground combat in September 1950.

At LeRoy's request, cremation rites have been accorded. While there will be no public services, LeRoy's family and friends will celebrate his life at a later date.
