Leroy Masters

January 2, 1946 — April 17, 2014

Leroy Masters, 66, of Spring Bay passed away peacefully at 7:28am in the comfort of his home into the hands of his Lord and Savior.

Leroy was born on January 2, 1948 in Peoria the son of Jesse and Mary McCormick Masters. He first married Brenda Perrine and they had to sons Jarrod (Stephanie) Masters of Scottsdale AZ and Brett (Robin) Masters of Peoria.

Leroy later married Sherrie Headley Rettig on December 11, 2005 in Washington, IL. Surviving is his wife Sherrie, and her two daughters Cassi (Donny) Perhay of Morton and Andrea Fasig of Washington. Also surviving are two granddaughters of Scottsdale, AZ three step granddaughters of Morton and one-step grandson of Washington. Further surviving are three sisters Barb (Randy) Johnson, Peggy (Wally) Smith and Debbie Barrar, two brothers Mike (Angie) Masters and Gary (Phyllis) Masters as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He proudly served our Country serving as a U.S. Marine during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a member of International Union of Operating Engineers Local 649 in Peoria. He worked for P.A. Atherton retiring in 2008.

He loved adventures from flying planes and any day was a great day for boating. His dream adventure came true when Leroy and Sherrie sailed their sailboat WINDIGO down the Intercostal waterway and lived on their boat in Florida. A long time friend recently said he always had an infectious smile. Leroy was very giving and compassionate to all he touched and was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed every day. A special thank you to Hospice of Unity Point Methodist, Illinois Cancer Center for their sympathetic care.

Cremation rites have been accorded and no services are scheduled. Memorial contributions in Leroy's name may be directed to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate in Peoria.
