Lester E. Howell, 79, of Peoria, IL passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at his residence.
He was born on September 4, 1946, in Peoria, to Charles Howell and Lydia Wessels. After his mother married Otis Fuller, he was raised by his mother and stepfather.
He married Susan E. White on April 20, 1968, and she passed away on October 25, 2021. He was also preceded in death by his parents, in-laws Ronald and Bernice White, two brothers, three sisters, and his niece Julie.
Surviving are his daughter Leslie (Jason) Meeks of Peoria; two grandsons Zack (Brooke) Gloeckler and Brandon (Stephanie) Meeks; and four great-grandchildren Adalyn, Riley, Callie, and Paislee.
Also surviving are three brothers: Leonard (Sue) Vestal of Germantown Hills, IL; Michael Fuller of Peoria; and Bobby (Tammy) Fuller Sr. of Peoria. His three sisters include Margie Cassidy of Moyock, NC; Bonnie (Rusty) Corp of Peoria; and Emma (Larry) Roby of Moyock, NC. Additionally, he is survived by many extended family members, including brother-in-law Ronald (Sherry) White of Bartonville, IL; Randy White of Peoria; Mike (Sherry) White of Washington; sister-in-law Marianne Holman; Judy Boles; and Kathy (Melvin) Anglin, all of Peoria. His family also includes numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and his cat Frankie, who was his closest companion over the past four years.
Lester spent many years at WABCO, ending his career as a press operator before retiring. He treasured quality time with his family, especially fishing and traveling. Known for his friendly nature, he was never a stranger to anyone. His warm heart and contagious smile will be deeply missed.
He was a former member of the St. Jude Knights of Columbus.
Cremation rites have been accorded. The family is planning a celebration of life for a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to T.A.P.S.
