Lorene Smith

Lorene Smith, 80, of Metamora passed away Monday evening at Snyder Village in Metamora. She was born on June 4, 1934 in Huntsville, AL a daughter to the late Earl and Martha Jacobs Brown. She married Jimmie Smith on April 10, 1954 in Iuka, MS and he passed away on July 15, 1998 in Peoria. Three brothers and seven sisters also preceded her in death. Surviving are three children Gwen (Mark) Royalty of Murfreesboro, TN, Kimberley Smith of Peoria and Jimmie (Lisa) Smith of Metamora. Further surviving are four grandchildren Heidi (Rob) Carpenter and Melanie Royalty both of Ft. Collins, CO; Joshua Smith of Houston, TX and Elizabeth Smith of Peoria. She was a homemaker and was member of East Peoria Church of Christ. She had many passions in life including singing, reading, traveling, shopping and especially enjoyed spending time with her family and will be missed by all. Funeral services will be 11am Thursday, November 6, 2014 at Mason Funeral Home in Germantown Hills with George McCormick and Paul Willett officiating. Visitation will be one-hour prior to her services. Burial will follow at Spring Bay Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials in her name may be given to Alzheimer's Association Central Illinois Chapter.
