Lucille E. Welch, 98, of Peoria formerly of Monmouth passed away peacefully on Monday September 10, 2012 at Rosewood Care Center in Peoria. She was born on August 30, 1914 in Monmouth the daughter of Charles and Winniefred Strickler Hoover. Surviving is one son Donald (Deborah) Welch of Peoria and one grandson Christopher (Amie) Welch of Bloomington, IL. Her parents and two sisters preceded her in death. She worked for the Warren Achievement Center in Monmouth for many years before her retirement. Knitting was a passionate hobby and knitted nearly 1000 children's sweaters and donated them to the Neighborhood House in Peoria. An avid traveler in her retired years she was able to visit 23 foreign countries and 49 States. Cremation rites have been accorded. A private graveside service will be held at a later date at Monmouth Cemetery. Memorials in her name may be given to the Neighborhood House.
