Luella Mae Learned (Reed) died peacefully, surrounded by her family on Oct 21, 2016 at Lutheran Hillside Village, Peoria IL. at age 73. Luella is survived by her Brother, Bill Reed, Children; Julie Learned, Mike and (Shari) Learned, Jody and (David) Hale, Kathy and (Rick) Landis, Grandchildren; Jessica Peterson, Scott Hale, Taylor Hanneman, Jared Hanneman, Rachel Hale, Joe Gleason, Rebekah Learned and Christopher Learned, Great Grandchildren; Laila & Logan Peterson and Joseph Hanneman. She is preceded in death by her husband Gerald Learned, Her mother and father Leslie and Elizabeth Reed, Her sister Shirley Picco, and brother, Bob Reed. Luella was born on Sept. 28, 1943 in Cuba, IL to Leslie and Elizabeth Reed. She attended school in Canton IL. She was married to Gerald Learned, on Feb 20, 1960. They resided in their home and lovingly raised their family on a farm in Trivoli, IL. Luella spent most of her time being a wife and busy mother to her 4 children. Later, when her children were older, she worked in Jumer's Accounting office, and then when her kids were grown, she worked as a CNA providing home health care. Luella's children remember her as a loving and devoted mother, who cherished family, and loved the simpler things in life. Luella was very creative and talented. She enjoyed painting, writing poetry, cooking, gardening, square dancing, and fishing, just to name a few. She loved living life in the country and all the amenities that go with it. Perhaps her greatest love, besides her family... (who are we kidding, including her family, lol) was her love for animals, especially her dogs! She adored her Pomeranians aka "her babies"! She always had at least 1 or 2 of her companions on her lap or by her side at all times. In accordance with Luella's wishes, a private family memorial service will be held at the family farm on October 30, 2016 to honor her life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Alzheimer's Association Central Illinois Chapter, 612 W Glenn Ave, Peoria, IL. The family would like to thank all caregivers and staff at Lutheran Hillside Village (Emanuel) for their dedication and care in so lovingly looking after their mother.
