Marie H. Groll

Marie Groll, 98, of Peoria, our beloved mother went to be with Jesus on December 29, 2017.

Born in Memphis, TN on December 20, 1919, daughter of the late Edward and Imogene Perkins Sechler Jr.

She is survived by daughter Mary (Miles) Crook, son Ray (Jill) Holloway, daughter Jeannie (Tim) Gullett, 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and one brother Richard (Petra) Sechler. She was preceded in death by her two husbands Ray Holloway and Howard Groll and two sisters.

Marie lovingly taught first grade for over 30 years. She loved flowers, sending cards for every holiday and birthday, plus reading mysteries, solving crosswords, and watching westerns. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. She was incredibility generous, free spirited, and never met a stranger.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial visitation will be held Friday, January 5, 2018, at Highview Christian Church, Washington, IL from 4:00pm-8:00pm. Her memorial service will be held 11:00am Saturday, January 6, 2018, at Putnam Christian Church, Putnam, IL, with visitation one hour prior. Inurnment will be private at a later date.
