Marilyn R. Welton

Marilyn Welton of Peoria, Illinois, passed away Friday, November 25, 201 at Proctor Hospital. She was born on March 11, 1931 in Oil City, Pennsylvania to George and Evelyn Reid. She attended Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania, where she met James Caldwell Welton. They married on August 2, 1952 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Marilyn is survived by her husband James Welton, one son Mark Welton, both of Peoria; one daughter Marci (Welton) Corbin of Fishers, Indiana; and sister Caryl (Reid) McDonald of Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her brother, John Reid. Marilyn also leaves behind a legacy that includes a love of nature, devotion to generosity and kindness, and a devout interest in the spiritual journey of this life and the next. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority while attending Allegheny College, a current member of St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral in Peoria and also the Peoria Country Club. Cremation Rites have been accorded and a private memorial service will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to memorials may be given in her name to the Forest Park Foundation, 5823 N.
