Marleen E. Kaufman

February 15, 1939 — August 8, 2021

Marleen Elizabeth Kaufman, 82, of Peoria, IL, went home with God surrounded by her family at 4:23 am on Sunday, August 8, 2021, at Unity Point Health-Methodist in Peoria.  She had the best seat for service, never wanting to be late for church.

On February 15, 1939, she was born in Peoria, IL, to John and Hazel (Platt) Workman.  She married Harold L. Kaufman on December 24, 1954.  He passed away in March 1998.  She was also preceded in death by her sister Darlene Carrillo in 2014.

She is survived by her children, Rusty (Ruth) Kaufman, Marla (Scott) Wagner, Tonya (Jerry) Hermacinski, Kevin (Debbie) Kaufman, and Tim Kaufman of Indiana; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Nancy (Ardy) Kelch; and several nieces and nephews.  She loved her long-time friends, Ellen Hoppock, who was like family to her and Juanita Brewer.

Marleen was a member of Bible Methodist Church in Peoria Heights.  She devoted her life to God, reading her bible and praying for her family and the missionaries.  Marleen loved children, especially babies and was the best hugger, and never wanted to let go.

Cremation rites have been accorded.  A Celebration of Life in memory of her 82 years will be held from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday, August 20, 2021, at the Christian Center, 4100 Brandywine Dr. in Peoria.  Memorials in her name may be given to a charity of the donor's choice.
