Mary Luran Bowen, 80, of Groveland died at 4:30 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2011 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was born Jan. 31, 1931 in Rockport, IL, to Irving & Emma (Mulkins) Lewis. She married Fred Bowen on Sept. 8, 1949 in Hannibal, IL. He preceded her in death on Oct. 13, 2009. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one grandson, Fred Bowen and one brother, Wade Lewis. Surviving are four sons, Terry (Debbie) Bowen of Germantown Hills, Rick (Val) Bowen of Henry, Randy (Linda) Bowen of Pekin and Robert Bowen of Groveland; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Alma (Howard) Harshman of New Salem and Nancy Alford of Cuba ; and one brother, Larry (Pam) Lewis of Edelstein. She was a homemaker and a wonderful cook. She loved going to watch her sons do karaoke and never knew a stranger. She had wonderful summer vacations with her family to Minnesota and Yellowstone National Park when the boys were growing up. Cremation will be accorded. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, July 22, 2011 at Mason Funeral Home in Germantown Hills with visitation one hour prior to her services.
